Visa on Arrival Process at Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok)

  • Passport
  • Number of stays should not exceed more than 15 days.
  • A recent passport size photograph (4 x 6 cm). In case if you have forgotten to carry one, there one counter quick photo counter just before the Visa on Arrival queue at Suvarnabhumi airport…. they will print the photo on your Visa application form after taking details from your boarding pass and passport. For this they will charge you 100 Baht .. so much for laziness, you won’t want that. So carry a photo in your wallet
  • Return ticket
  • Cash of 10,000 Baht (250US$) per person or credit card (I was not asked to show, a verbal yes was ok for the authorities)
  • 1,000 Baht for the visa fee (Thai currency only) in cash. There is not ATM inside the terminal
  • The immigration officer may ask you for your hotel booking details. Carry a printout

General Tips

  • I was traveling in Indigo flight (1:30 am) and most of the passengers were Indians who were to apply for VISA on arrival. We had pretty hectic schedule the next day so in order to be not in last of visa line, we walked really fast but landed in wrong line (line having pre-approved visa). Don’t do that. Make sure you are standing in right line

  • Make sure to listen to the belt number of your luggage and note it on your ticket. If you don’t make sure you follow the crowd

  • Don’t screw up the line discipline. Just don’t
  • It took us more than an hour to get visa. Keep everything in place
  • Take the luggage from the belt afterwards
  • We landed at odd hours so metro service was unavailable, bus service was nonexistent. We had to take a cab (pink colored Toyota corollas)
